Why do we resist change? For the entire history of man, in the bible or written on the sands of time, things change.
Somehow we want to settle in and get comfortable. My theory is that the winds of change can put us on course to find the right direction.
When we loose our job, or some major life event takes place that turns everything upside down, we pray for everything to go back to normal. (Another theory of mine is that “normal” is a setting on the dryer, and not a state in our lives.) So when things change perhaps we should pray to find our new direction. Pray to gracefully embrace the exciting challenges that now come with this change.
Pray that we keep moving forward and not wish for the past. Today is a great day because you make it so. You find something to be grateful for in this day, and live it with enthusiasm.
Genesis 11:31 Change came when Abram’s family left Ur to go to Canaan but ended up in Haran. Genesis 17:5 Abram’s name was changed to Abraham.
Instead of praying to for everything to go back to normal, pray to find your way through the changes. Pray to find productive work that becomes your passion and your joy.
Don’t fear the winds of change. Set your sails for a new course and fear not.
