Pray for job seekers

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

I had lunch with a great friend, Myra this week.  She graduated from college this spring, and has been looking for a job now for couple of months.  She has taken some temporary work, but hasn’t found anything permanent, or that she likes, or that pays great.  Another friend, Bonnie has been in my prayers and looking for a while and I rejoice she has just recently found a job that seems right for her.  Bonnie was searching for quite some time. I know there were times she was frustrated.

There must be lots of people out there in the same spot.  I would like everyone to pray this week for all those looking for meaningful work.  I pray they find the perfect jobs that utilize their unique talents and abilities.  I pray they find jobs that pay well, and that they enjoy.

Let us all be bold and expect our prayers to be answered for the job seekers.

A Grateful Heart

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Being thankful changes a person’s attitude.  I have started a gratitude journal.  Everyday I sit for a couple of moments and reflect on what I am grateful for.  It changes my entire day.

“God, thank you for blessings beyond any measure.  Each day as I look around at my family, friends, prayer partners, co-workers, clients; I feel so blessed and filled with gratitude.  My life is rich in so many ways.  Thank you, God.”

Divine Purpose

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

It seems that the possibility of having a divine purpose to our lives promotes several reactions.

  • Fright – What if it is huge and scary and something I can’t fulfill?
  • Wonder – Is there more to my life than eating chips and playing video games?
  • Anger – I want to pick my own plan and don’t need any marching orders from God or the universe!
  • Scarlett O’Hara – I’ll worry about that another day

I think the divine plan is today.  It is living it today and everyday.  The job I have right now is part of the divine plan of my life.  Not pre-destined, definately free-will, but part of the plan.

If we get up every day and use our talents and gifts with joy and enthusiasm, we are part of the divine purpose in the universe.  Each and every one of us is a divine idea in the mind of God.  We have unique abilities to be used just like tools over our lifetimes.
